2nd Annual Duke Ellington Jazz Festival (October 4 - October 8, 2006)
Following the success of the inaugural event, the 2nd annual Duke Ellington Jazz Festival featured more than 90 performances and programs in 21 venues across the Greater Washington, DC metropolitan area.
Highlight events included an Opening Gala celebrating the music of the Americas, a family concert, re-creation of Harlem's legendary "The Cotton Club," and two days of back-to-back concerts at the Lincoln Theatre.
Feature headline artists included: Geri Allen, Paquito D’Rivera, Roberta Gambarini, Roy Hargrove, Roy Haynes, Dr. John, Michael Philip Mossman, Wallace Roney, Poncho Sanchez, Janis Siegel, Luciana Souza, Mavis Staples and Randy Weston.
