3rd Annual Duke Ellington Jazz Festival (September 9 - September 17, 2007)
With more than ten Grammy-Award winners and seven National Endowment for the
Arts (NEA) Jazz Masters, the 2007 festival featured a rich blend of artists
inspired by the musical geniuses of Duke Ellington and Dizzy Gillespie.
Festival-goers had the opportunity to revel in Washington’s Jazz legacy and
rich cultural history.
The 2007 festival marked the 90th birthday year of Jazz icon John Birks
"Dizzy" Gillespie, a visionary and pioneer who devoted his life to the idea
that music brings people together. Music lovers from around the world
attended an assortment of more than 100 cultural and family-friendly
performances and programs over nine music-filled days.

Rodney Slater, Partner, Patton Boggs and Stacey Stewart, Senior Vice
President, Fannie Mae serve as Honorary Co-Chairs.
